I've moved my blog to a new domain. Visit jeffwongdesign.com

Gmail's maximum attachment size.

I never knew you could send this much until I tried sending a 20mb file to a buddy last night via Gmail. I'm impressed by Gmail's email attachment limit.

Super mario world bowser's castle played on piano and violin.

What can I say, these guys are incredible. If you can't wait, skip to 1 minute 20 seconds into it. It's ridiculously awesome. If you can't see the video, click here to watch it on youtube.

Check out my other blog post with more videos of them playing final fantasy, metal gear solid and zelda.

Monstercss.com

I came across this site recently. I've been seeing more sweet uses of jquery recently. What's funny is that it reminds me of a lot of old school flash gimmicks. Man, I should have learned js instead of flash. *bonk* I might have to try something out like this soon.

Design process vs design hacking.

While I love process, data, testing, etc... I sure love hacking some stuff together with a small team. When's the last time you hacked a design together?

Here are two illustrations of typical process...

Wideangle photos of industrial plants by Pom²'s buddy icon Pom².

I came across this guy's flickr photo stream from fwa photo a day. Love the wide angle shots.

Music to kick off your monday — Owl City.

The Bird and The Worm by Owl City. If you can't see the video, click here. Enjoy.

Faucet light bulbs.

Interesting installation. I'd love to have some of these in my office.

New ping pong paddles.

Here are my new ping pong paddles. Thanks to my cousin Roger and my mom for hooking me up. I've already played with them once, and it's a huge improvement. This will change how I play the game, now that I can put some real spin on the ball.

Google promotes Chrome on google.com.

Notice how they're pushing it in the top right hand corner.

SSD vs HDD

Anyone know if SSD is really worth it? Throwing a 256mb SSD in a macbook pro would add like $850. It books up the OS and application snappy... but does it justify the cost? Here's a video I found that shows a side-by-side comparison.

Video Games covered with piano and violin. (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid 2, Zelda)

I was looking for metroid covers on the piano and I somehow stumbled across these two guys playing the Metal Gear Solid 2 theme. A) I'm a big fan of Harry Gregson-William's cinematic scores, and B) huge props to these two kids for putting this together. These two guys have been able to cover a couple video game songs, and they're all fantastic. Here are some that caught my ear. If you can't see the video, watch them here.

Ocarina of Time (Zelda's Lullaby)

Final Fantasy VII Improv Meddley

CSS3 Raindrop

Love how they're doing cool stuff with CSS3. I wonder what this looks like in IE6... lol. Check out the example here. Scale up by pressing COMMAND "+". Notice how the CSS3 tear drop scales up, while the bitmap becomes grainy. Learn more about how the developer did it here.

Tower Madness, Endurance, Wave 220/327

Thanks for all the tips and comments from my last post. I got stuck around wave 126, and now I'm able exceed wave 200 on average. If you have any tips, please let me know. Send some screenshots too!

Photoshop content-aware fill, sneak peak.

This is insane. I can't wait for this feature.

Bathroom closet makeover.

Really cool closet makeover. Looks like they grabbed a wallpaper from IKEA and some nice storage units to restyle the closet. I really like it... so much that I may have to do it as well. Really nice touch.

By the way, I found this image totally randomly... Justin, my coworker, showed me a business card from Twitter, and I had to commandeer it immediately (as it joins my collection of business cards). I checked out the contact info on the card and started clicking around... eventually I landed on their flickr page and saw this. What's funny is that I totally typed in the wrong twitter profile, and stumbled on it. I went to @jenna instead of @jennadawn. I guess this is what you would consider a happy accident.

Minimalist clock with magnifying glass.

Love how they used magnifying glass. I wish I had a black wall to install one of these. They should do a reversed version... since most walls are probably going to be a lighter color.

iPad or iPhone.

I can't decide... if I had $500 to spend, would I put it towards the 4g iPhone or for a new iPad? The truth is, I'd probably use the iPhone more. Which one do you think you'd use more?

Big ass message.

Big Ass Message example. It does one thing, and one thing well—it transforms a simple message from small to really big, and provides a URL. Hat tip: Helenrice

Fuzzco.com

Came across fuzzco.com randomly. Love how they present their work, and their huge footer. There's a lot of cool stuff to click and play with on their site. My favorite page is their "about us" page. It has so much personality, and makes me want to say hello. Great job Fuzzco! Look forward to following you.

Power of Side Spin.

Impressive display of side spin technique in these rallies. I like how the commentator says "this is beautiful! again... and once again! wooooow"

Alex Buga v8 website.

Very impressive site design... unfortunately, it's not online, so here's a video. Check out Alex's site here. Anyone else inspired?

Friday tunes. Doves, "Kingdom of Rust" acoustic version.

This song was used in Zombieland... when I heard the hook, I knew I had to find it. The acoustic version is wonderful. Watch it the acoustic version here, and the full original version here. It makes me want to pick up my guitar and start playing again... and take a road trip!

**update** I just realized that this is a band I used to listen to. No wonder they sounded so familiar. An old coworker of mine, Noel, introduced me to their music. Check out one of my fav song by them.

Alice in Wonderland concept art by Michael Kutsche.

See all the images here.

Impersonations by Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey by far one of the best impersonators I've ever seen... it's incredible how he's able to do it on the fly, and captures all of the tiny inflections. If you don't see the video, you can watch it here.

Cool magazine rack.

Probably could build this for quarter the price, but I like the style... probably could even recycle some old cardboard boxes and make this easily. Maybe I'll make a miniature one for the office. Oh, if only I had more time. You can also buy one here.

Remember me.

I really want to get a Tshirt or poster of this.

Curtis CSS typeface.

Curtis CSS typeface is a font created with CSS. This is really impressive experiment. He's got a really nice portfolio as well, and lives in the same town as me. I'm hoping to drop him a line and say wazzup.

Dollar Origami, lives in a garbage truck.

Won Park is the master of Origami. He is also called the "money folder", a practitioner of origami whose canvas is the United States One Dollar Bill. Bending, twisting, and folding, he creates life-like shapes in stunning detail. Hat tip: Mark

3d sketching with Rhonda.

Rhonda is a 3d drawing tool... i'd love to try this out.

Creative video ad, "And then there was salsa".

Reminds me of an old nintendo Wii super smash brothers video on Youtube... Check out this ad. Click and watch how it takes over your screen. Interesting expandable.

Realtime face compositing.

I love Japan.

Awesome music video. No special effects.

In contrast to all the high tech 3d compositing and animation, it's nice to see some ways to innovate, old school. Very nice timing. I wonder if they did it all in one take.

iPhone used for 3d video compositing.

This is a really cool use of an iPhone to set up motion tracking, 3d video compositing, etc. Check out Pro Video Coalition for more details.

Here's the final commercial.

Here's the behind the scenes. You've gotta watch this. Impressive!

Augmented (hyper)Reality.

Impressive demonstration... but they should have picked a different scenario, like doing something more productive. All that interactive surface and augmented reality is a waste of power, just to make a cup of tea.

Panic status board.

Okay, I'm going to design something like this too... the visualization is just awesome (and useful!). I'd like to design a visualization for our trac system. Heh.

AddThis.com design refresh.

We rolled out the new redesign! I'll talk the design changes later... for now, I'd like to just take a sec and thank the team (in no particular order, Jim, Foo, Joel, Philip, Justin, Mano, QA, Oren, Hoo, Will, etc). It's nice to see the site get some design love. Visit addthis.com
